FireHorse
My inspiration for this piece was my love for seahorses and because of the fact that I am a Cancer. I chose surrealism because I thought it would look cool, a seahorse with its tail wrapped around a ray of fire.
I created the piece by painting the background red and then outlining the dark blue around the lines of the flames. I mapped out my seahorse inside of the flames and then started to paint it. Once it was nearing turn-in time, I started to try and add more colors to the flames to make them somewhat realistic. I added layers to the flames and blended the colors for the seahorse.
Furry Coconuts
My inspiration for this piece was my love for coconuts. Also, I wanted to challenge myself with using sgraffito, it was kind of tricky.
I created this piece by using different colors and shades of brown, blue and black. When shading the cup in the coconut it was a little difficult because I didn't want to make it too dark.
Kane the Wise Ol' Lady
My inspiration for this piece was how old the universe is and how I could bring it into the artwork. I love how it is believed one person created this whole universe and I wanted to make her look very wise and aged.
I created this piece by drawing out a rough draft and then adding the clay together. It was easy to do the coiling and carving but it was a little difficult digging out the mouth and eyes. I added a little world to the top of her shirt.
Evolution of Technology
The inspiration for this piece was that technology is very popular and is used every single day. It has increased in the past few years at a rapid pace.
We mapped out the laptop and then the keyboard. After mapping out all of the linings in the laptop we mapped out the world. We took our own pieces and started shading. Every now and then, we made sure all of the shades matched and that the keyboard was equal.
Light Seahorse
My inspiration for this piece was my love for seahorses and the challenge with pen and ink to make the seahorse's body and details. I used green and yellow because they go well with each other.
In order to create this piece I had a very detailed rough draft in my sketchbook and used the light to outline it. I used watercolor to paint the background and seahorse. After the paint was dry, I used the pen and ink to create the horse.
Snowy Mountains
My inspiration for this piece was the unity and how peacefully the colors looked together. I love the feel you get off of it and how beautiful it is. Also, I created it because I wanted to challenge myself with a difficult piece.
I created this piece with Water Color Paint. I used round brushes and flat brushes. Before painting anything I added masking fluid to the snowy parts of my mountains so when I was done painting I would be able to erase it off and the snow would be completely white. Then, I started with the water washes and then added more color to the big parts of the paintings and once the objects in the backgrounds were done I started to add details.
Winter Chill
My inspiration for this piece was that her face is very detailed and defined. Also, the fur made me want to challenge myself. She stood out to me more than the others.
I created the piece by sections on a graph. I started off with the outer boxes and drew the fur and hairs in. Then, when the face shape and all of the fur was complete, I started on the details in the face.
Her Fire Touch
My inspiration for this artwork was that I wanted to something different than everyone else. I chose to draw a faceless girl with fire as hands.
This piece was created by pencil lines and drawing the three vanishing points. The hair is wavy and has little curl lines inside. I shaded the hair and body.
